Silberline experienced a flash fire, Oct. 17 at its Tidewood, PA facility. The fire was extinguished quickly and all materials were contained in safe vessels inside the plant. There was no danger to the community, Silberline reported. Also known as the Ernest Scheller III Center for Technical Functions and Advanced Manufacturing, the Tidewood facility is home to the company’s research and development, quality management, sales and technical service departments.
The incident was contained within the advanced manufacturing area, and was specifically limited to the company’s StarBrite vacuum metallized flake operation. No other portions of the facility were affected and all Silberline products other than StarBrite continue to be manufactured and supplied without interruption.
Four Silberline employees were present at the time of the incident and treated at nearby hospitals. Silberline has initiated a thorough investigation of the incident.
